TANZANIA

  • The Wildebeest Migration
    • The annual migration of more than 1.7 million wildebeest and other animals is shared between Kenya's Masai Mara and Tanzania's Serengeti National Park. During September through December, the best viewing is in the Mara. Then the herds typically move south and by February are in the southern Serengeti and begin calving. In June, they move north and west and mating season slows them briefly afterwhich the herds often fragment until regrouping in October and November to begin the cycle.
