GETTING AROUND
Tanzanians travel about on mini-vans packed with people know as daladalas. Though inexpensive, it is recommend that visitors use taxis. The buses can be very crowded and dangerous. Taxis are easily found and identified by some signage. You should always ask a price before the trip starts, as there are no meters in these taxis. An average trip of about 10 – 15 minutes should cost around TShs 5,000/- or $5.00. Hotels can arrange taxis on request.

Travel between cities can be done in coach buses. Though not a recommended way of travel for visitors, it can be an adventure. Check which buses have a better safety record. If travelling by bus, never accept food or beverage from someone you do not know.

Trains are slow and not reliable.

There are a number of domestic flights between Arusha, Dar, Zanzibar, the Serengeti, and other places.
