TELEPHONE SERVICE IN ARUSHA
There are a number of hotels in the Arusha Area with phone service. International access when dialing from abroad is COUNTRY CODE 255 and CITY CODE 27. If calling from within East Africa, you should omit the country code and dial 007 followed by 27. If calling from elsewhere in Tanzania, add a 0 before the city code. Some businesses and people in Arusha have cellular service. There are currently several companies operating in Arusha. To call someone with mobile service, the CITY CODE is 0741, 0744 or 0748 depending on the service they subscribe to. International callers use the COUNTRY CODE 255 and drop the '0' before the CITY CODE.

IMPORTANT: Telephone service in Africa, especially calls to international locations are very expensive.

TELEPHONE SERVICE IN DAR ES SALAAM
The CITY CODE for Dar es Salaam is 22.

Tanzania has a number of Embassies located in Dar es Salaam. Your government's information office can provide the current contact numbers. It is recommended you do this before traveling.

MOBILE PHONE SERVICE
Tanzaina's mobile phone service is GSM compatible and international roaming is available in many areas. You should note that it is not generally available in National Parks.

INTERNET
There are a number of Internet Cafes in towns and cities. Hotels also may offer Internet service in their business centre.

POST
The postal service from Tanzania is slow and not reliable. Valuables should never be sent by post. Tanzania does have some wonderful postage stamps for collectors ranging from wildlife and birds to dinosaurs and even Elvis (I kid you not).
