Renovations at Asilia
As always, lots of upgrade and renovation work will be done during the upcoming off-season. Major refurbishments are (pictures to come soon!):

Oliver’s Camp
: Flush toilets and running water will be plumbed in for showers and wash basins. New lounge and dining room that will be permanent and thatched but very much keeps the feeling of traditional Oliver’s Camp.

Matemwe & Matemwe Retreat
- Major refurbishment of rooms, and many back of house improvements (new electricity cabling, boundary walls, sewage systems).

Matemwe, Oliver’s, Sayari: New water treatment recycling systems for all permanent camps

On top of that, many smaller renovations and upgrades will take place:

  • New window coverings (drop down rain guards) for all open vehicles stationed in camps
  • Upgrade / refreshing furnishings (all properties)
  • New carpeting and floor coverings (all properties)
  • New desk and desk chairs (Sayari Camp)
  • New back up hot water systems for solar heaters
  • New lighting (Sayari Camp)
 
New Lodge to open in Serengeti

Mbali Mbali Camps & Lodges is launching their newest property - Serengeti Soroi Lodge.  Located in the Western Corrider, the lodge is constructed on stilts so that the chalets and suite chalets offer views of the bush below.  There will be a total of 25 chalets of which 20 are standard and 5 are suites.  All will feature en-suite baths with tubs and outside showers.  The property will also feature:

  • 24 hour electricity
  • Cell phone coverage
  • Wireless internet in suite chalets
  • Swimming pool
  • Daily laundry service
  • Complimentary soft drinks and bottled water

 

Room service will also be available for guests occupying suite rooms.  Opening June 2010.

Precision Air direct to Entebbe

Precision Air has announced that they will now fly a non-stop flight from Tanzania's Kilimanjaro International Airport to Entebbe Airport in Uganda from the 1st of July.  Though the exact schedule and fares are yet to be announced, this new flight will open the possibility of combining fantastic Ugandan adventures.
